Composite Materials
The materials and method used by Escher-Grad ensure a high degree of vibration isolation, rigidity and long-term dimensional stability unmatched by metal drums. The end result: an optically precise imaging surface completely unaffected by temperature variations or vibrations – bar none. Our composite material provides two significant technical advantages: A very lowco-efficient of thermal expansion of 0.5 parts per million per degree and a very high vibration isolation of up to 90 dB.
In other words, solid as a rock!

If these were the dark ages, we might be called Alchemists seemingly turning lead into gold. In our Composite Materials Division, Escher-Grad’s magic is turning quartz and granite into the most stable, most durable, most precise imaging surface there is. Our proprietary blend of granite, quartz and resins, replaces archaic metal machining techniques used by other manufacturers. This method provides one-step formation of threaded inserts, complex shapes, vacuum grooves and reference surfaces, with no post-manufacturing finishing, measurement or re-work required.
